Each summer, a group of our high school youth take off on an adventure to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing house repair and relational ministry to impoverished people in different cities around the country. In the past few years, the group has participated in mission work in Fort Apache, AZ, Black Mountain, NC, New Orleans, LA, Boston, MA, Atlanta, GA, Los Angeles, CA and Memphis, TN.
This summer, our high school youth will be taking a mission trip to Houston, Texas. We’ll be taking our trip July 20 -29. While in Houston, our group will be doing mission work in the historic Third Ward area of the city. We will be working on projects that include painting, remodeling, and renovating homes for families in need. Through their hard work and example, our youth will be a part of bringing revival and hope to an area in great need.
The mission team will be working through an ecumenical youth mission organization called Team Effort, who will host our teenagers as well as other youth groups from around the country.
Before and after the trip, our group will visit some popular tourist attractions in the area. The plan is to visit the Johnson Space Center, attend either a Houston Dynamo (MLS) or Houston Astros’ Game (MLB), hit up the beaches of Galveston, and attend a Texas-sized church.
The cost of the trip will be approximately $655. This will cover the mission trip registration fee, flight to Houston, and meals while at the mission center. Some extra cash will be needed for free day activities and meals on the days that we are not at the mission center. A $175 deposit will be due by March 11th reserve your spot. As always, we'll have some fundraising opportunities to help offset the costs of the trip.
The trip space is limited and spots will be go fast, so I suggest that you register quickly. Once the spots are gone, they are gone!
